We are very pleased to be bringing Artofficial back again for its fourth season, and we are excited to announce the following line up! As with every year, we continue to make it our goal to make the competition bigger and better in every aspect, from the introduction compilation to the awards ceremony. Our biggest vision is to provide dance teams with the opportunity to showcase their abilities, with less focus on the bragging rights and more emphasis on the creative process. Artofficial: The Renegades challenges dancers to push their artistry to its highest potential, to grow as dancers and to gain the winning title.

As renegades and as the future of the dance community, our competing teams are tasked with the challenge of going against common and established creative dance principles and introduce new concepts, styles, and techniques—to raise the bar of the competition and show exactly what their generation can do. The question is—who can rise up to that challenge?

Sound FX is looking for talented, passionate, and enthusiastic artists who love to sing and want to grow with a singing group. Sound FX rehearses once a week and is an experience you wouldn’t want to miss out on! Harmonize and expand both your vocal range and genre base, and much more!

Sound FX was founded and developed by Clarence Bongalos and Vanessa Andrada and is the first-ever studio-based vocal ensemble consisting of aspiring vocalists of all ages.

To complement the ever-growing dance community, Sound FX was created as a means of pioneering the vocal arts movements and to provide a progressive environment for young, passionate artists to thrive in and mold their talents.

Sound FX is a team built on three principles: talent development, artistic expression, and creative freedom.

TO AUDITION:

-Must be 13 years or older.

-Must be available to rehearse on Sundays and commit to this day each week.

-No experience necessary.

-Prepare a 60 second song to audition with. Bring instrumental music if preferred, or sing a capella.

-Bring a printed head shot (photo) of yourself to your audition (or we will take one of you).

-Dress appropriately for the audition.

REQUIREMENTS:
All applicants must submit a recent photo and video of the current cast in order to be considered. Submission videos cannot be from an event earlier than September 2012.

Upon acceptance, all competing teams who submitted registrations after January 12, 2012 must pay a registration fee of $25.00 per dancer. Registration fees are due no later than February 15, 2013.

All competing dancers must be age nineteen (19) or below, and must be able to show valid proof of age upon request. Competing dancers may not be affiliated with any adult or collegiate teams. No exceptions.

Competing dancers may only compete in one team, but may participate in multiple exhibition teams so long as they are not a collegiate or adult team.

ALL competing teams must participate in the Introduction Compilation, in which competing teams are introduced at the beginning of the show.

Failure to comply with these requirements will result in a penalty as see fit by the Competition Directors, including disqualification.

Want to join our ensemble? Sound FX will be Studio FX’s first Vocal Ensemble/Team, directed by Clarence Bongalos (Co-Creator of Artofficial Dance Competition, trained with Dr. Ralph Cato). Your next chance to audition will be on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 from 3PM to 5PM! Sound FX’s breakout performance will be at the studio show, Projekt FX, on January 19, 2012 at the Poway Performing Arts Center!

TO AUDITION:

Pick a song that best showcases your vocal abilities, as well as the genre of music you are most passionate about.

Plenty of aspiring artists struggle in their craft and come close to throwing in the towel simply because of a lack of ‘proper’ equipment or resource. And, in all honesty, I, myself have been in that predicament. I have second-guessed my abilities on numerous occassions because I just do not have enough money to make dreams into reality. I have sat in silence countless times to contemplate whether to progress in my artistic endeavors or to simply.. cease all attempts.

However, I realize now that I—we—cannot allow ourselves to be victimized by financial limitations. Money is nothing but green paper as long as the talent, skill, drive, and vision exists. As I’ve told a couple of fellow artists, what you produce should not be determined by what you use but by the concept and the execution.

Cavemen did not have any of the tools we now have available to us, all they had were sticks and stones. Yet, they were able to produce images/visuals that are now valued by our society. Out of nothing but sticks and stones, cavemen told stories of their existence. They made art, out of sticks and stones.

So, you too, can do the same. My advice to you, struggling artist, is to make art out of sticks and stones.

As a matter of fact, I extend this advice to anyone and everyone, in anything you do. You can do anything that you set your mind to, regardless of any lack of resources.

Make art out of sticks and stones.

My favorite memory from Artofficial is being able to enjoy the show with the family and in the end when the results are announced. Seeing the winning teams crying with tears of joy is very touching. Oh! & catching the free shirt that was thrown into the crowd :)

My favorite memory of Artofficial was performing and sharing that stage with my family. I think the best feeling was after we performed jumping up and down hugging each other and knowing that we gave it our all. This picture captured what we were truly feeling at this moment. Seeing everyone cry tears of joy, smiling and hugging each other tightly. Not because of the trophy, but because our hard work paid off. The trophy could mean less to us, as long as we put on a good show and have each other at the end of the day. I’m blessed to be apart of such an amazing team. I love my ORGhana!
